At Home With The Girls

What a delight!!! Two beautiful girls who couldn't be more perfect! (At least for now!!) We have been home for the past 2 1/2 weeks and I have just one more week before my daycare kids come back. Sydney is doing extremely well. She eats and sleeps about every 3 or 4 hours and cries only when she is hungry or getting her diaper changed. She is quite modest for 2 weeks old. I don't know, maybe she just doesn't like the cold.
Haley is such a great helper with Sydney. She offers her pacifier to her when she is crying and she loves to lay on the playmat with her and sing to her. Sydney has started to really recognize Haleys voice and responds in a positive way most of the time. It has been fun watching the two of them make faces and interact.
I have posted a photo album for those of you who didn't get the email. If you click on the Kodak link in the beginning of the blog you should be able to see a slideshow of pictures. I am working on some video, but am having problems, so I don't know if we will be able to get video. I will try to put new pictures up every couple of weeks. I hope you are enjoying the pics...and the updates. There really has not been a lot going on, except for just spending time together as a new family.
Thanks to all those who sent cards and gifts. We really appreciate it and look forward to introducing little Sydney to everyone.
All our love,
Mindy, Joe, Haley, & Sydney

SYDNEY ELIZABETH HAS ARRIVED !!!!

Dearest Family & Friends:

We are home and we are thrilled!!! Our little angel Sydney Elizabeth joined the Lamberson family January 4th at 7:26am. We arrived at the hospital Friday morning at 5am, and waited anxiously for Mindy's 7am date with Dr. Hoegh and the awesome staff at Iowa methodist. A very smooth delivery followed, and Mindy and baby were back in their room at 7:40am. Joe was able to capture the event on video, which was an amazing experience! Dr. Hoegh asked if Joe wanted to capture the "procedure" on video. Joe quickly recognized that he'd best be positioned on the other side of the curtain to hold Mindy's hand. He intently stared into Mindy's eyes and listened carefully to Dr. Hoegh and his staff casually reminisce about their New Years experiences. Talk about having things down to a science!

Mindy and baby spent Friday, Saturday, & Sunday resting and big Sister Haley was phenomenal! She held the baby several times over the weekend, and our most precious moment was Haley singing the Barney song to Sydney as Baby sis smiled intently. It was priceless!

Mom and baby arrived home at 10:30 am today and are doing great. Haley met them with a big WELCOME HOME MOM AND SYDNEY sign and a big hug for Mom and baby. It has been an awesome experience, and we're looking forward to sharing more pictures with you soon!

Thank you so much for all of your kind words and well wishes!

All our Love,

Joe, Mindy, Haley, & Sydney

Christmas, New Year, Baby and Everything in Between

Well, it is two days before the BIG day!! Haley is excited, I am anxious, and Joe is doing his best to stay sane and help when he can.

Christmas was wonderful! We stayed at home for the first time since Haley was born and I would have to say....it was really nice to wake up, open presents, and stay in our pajamas until 1:00 p.m. It was the first year Haley really understood what was going on so we had a blast opening, playing, opening another gift and playing. I am thinking that this really is the way to go when you have small children.

We got a new camcorder and have been having a blast recording Haley. She is a riot. We have a great clip of her doing gymnastics, one of sledding (all by herself...and yes I was scared to death), and one of her doing a cheer for her soon to be baby sister. We are still working on getting the video online for everyone to see, but I will keep trying.

As for New Year's, we went with some friends over to an open gymnasium and played basketball, nerf darts, jump rope, and remote control cars. The adults chatted and the kids had a blast. Everyone brought little munchies. (These are the good times.....at least this is what New Year becomes when you become a parent!!) It has been very cold here so we have stayed in most of the holidays, but as I said have managed to get out and sled a couple of times.

We are anxiously awaiting Friday morning when our new little addition will be born. I will be home Monday the 7th and hope to get at least a couple of pics on the website. If I'm not able to get the pics on right away, the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines has a site with a nursery photo album you can check out.

Hope everyone is enjoying the New Year. As we said before we are so blessed with what we've been given, we pray for a wonderful and quick recovery and will be chatting with everyone soon.

Love and hugs,
Mindy, Joe, & Haley
